They sell over 400 products in the categories of Nutrition, Personal Care, Home Cleaning Products, Cosmetics and more… The company price itself from developing and manufacturing products that stands out from the competition. They make products that are safe, effective, eco-friendly and affordable to people.

Melaleuca is exclusive to paying members only although they have a free membership as well, you will be able to buy and use their products once you become a member. They have been around since year 1985 and have stood the test of time. Their mission is to enhance the lives of people to look better, feel better and live better.

The current CEO of the company is Frank L. VanderSloot who is also the founder and has led the company’s growth into more than $2 billion in annual revenue.

As a consumer, I like products that are safe and natural. The ones that does not have harsh ingredients and also the ones that are eco-friendly. Melaleuca is a company that does all that so there is no doubt that they have products that are appealing to consumers. Would you use a product that have harsh chemicals? Probably not if you have a better choice right?

You also have to take into account the pricing whether or not they offer a reasonable price and better yet if they have the best prices. After all, we as consumers are always looking for the best products and for the best reasonable prices.

I can tell you up front that Melaleuca has great products in the health and wellness industry which is a very competitive market. Their products are for sure appealing to consumers otherwise they would not have been in business for as long as they have now and they are continuously growing and sustaining.

In this post, what we want to find out though is whether or not Melaleuca is an MLM Company and if it is a legitimate business opportunity to make money but first let’s see how it works…

From a careful observation and research, here’s what I found in regards to how Melaleuca works. To get started, you would need to contact the person who referred you to Melaleuca and that person will get you set up. If no one referred you and you happen to have stumbled upon finding Melaleuca on your own then you would need to call 1-800-522-3172 for information of how you can get set up.

There Are Two Types of Melaleuca Membership And These Are:

Regular Membership

You would most likely choose this type of membership if you are only going to be using the Melaleuca products as this one does not have any commitment to buy on a monthly basis. This means that you would only buy the products that you need for yourself and your family nothing more nothing less.

The cost for this type of membership is FREE but the downside to this is that you would be paying full prices every time and there is no discount at all.

Preferred Membership

There are a lot of benefits being a preferred member and if you want to start a business with Melaleuca, this is the membership for you. The main benefit is that you would be enjoying a discount of 30% to 50% on the regular prices of your purchases.

In addition to that, there is what they call a Loyalty Shopping Dollars and the way to earn it is by simply making your purchases. It is all about savings and rewards when you are a Preferred Member.

They also have an exclusive members-only shopping portal where you can save on products and services from other major brand name retailers. There is no doubt that being a preferred member is beneficial but there is one downside in my opinion. In order for you to enjoy all the benefits, discounts, savings and all that good stuff, you would need to meet a minimum purchase requirements of 35 points per month.

What this means is that every month you would be buying Melaleuca products whether you like it or not so that your Preferred Membership status remains active and therefore you continue to enjoy all the benefits. The points system they have does not necessarily mean 1 point for every purchase. You could buy three products and can equate to 35 points or more or you could buy five products and still less than 35 points but the main thing is that you would at least be spending upwards of $60 per month.

Depending upon your given situation, I think this is not bad at all specially when you are a person who likes Melaleuca products. They are in the health and wellness industry so in one way or another, their products are touching people’s lives. They have nutrition products, vitamins, skin care, household products and a whole lot more that we as consumers care about and are buying every so often in our daily lives.

Is Melaleuca An MLM Company?

In my opinion yes, Melaleuca is an MLM or Multi Level Marketing Company and allow me to explain why. First of all, their products are exclusive to members only and in order for you to be a member, you would have to contact the person who referred you so that you can get set up. That is one level already, and then the person that referred you must have a person that referred him/her as well. That is the second level already.

Now, both you and the person who referred you are required to meet a minimum purchase of products every month to maintain an active Preferred Membership. These required purchases of Melaleuca products are benefiting the company in one way or another and that is the third level. Hence, in my opinion Melaleuca is a Multi Level Marketing Company.

Let’s try to look at this another way, If no one referred you to Melaleuca you would need to call their number which is 1-800-522-3172 and when you do, you will then get set up by someone there who will become your Upline.

Who Can Benefit From Using Melaleuca?

People that are passionate about the products can benefit from Melaleuca. If you love safe and natural products this could be the company for you to promote.

One thing to keep in mind is that, you are basically going to be tied in to them because of the minimum purchase requirements if you were to become a Preferred Member.

Are you thinking of starting a business with Melaleuca? If you do, that’s great but upon doing my research It appears that about 80% of people joining as just becoming a customer meaning that they are just buying the products and not really entering it as a business opportunity.

I wonder why but I guess the answer is that this is a tough business to enter because first of all they are in the health and wellness industry which is very competitive. When you enter the Melaleuca business, you will likely start by becoming a Product Advocate and based on the Year 2018 Melaleuca Statistics, it shows that the approximate annual income is ranging from $16 to $2,156 only. To me that doesn’t sound promising at all considering the fact that you will have to hard sell their products to your customers.

When you become serious and have referred more people to Melaleuca, you would become a Business Builder which has a projected range of annual income from $314 to $39,987.

Sure you can recruit your friends and family even your co-workers but then again you can only have so many people that you can recruit.

Can You Really Make Money With Melaleuca?

Of course you can but you would most likely have to recruit in order for you to expand and make money. If you like the idea of selling and you have the natural ability to convince people to buy then this might be the business for you.

You can even create your own website and sell Melaleuca products but then again there are so many products and services out there that you can promote which do not require you to have a minimum purchase every month.

• You will have to keep buying their products just for you to be in good active Preferred Membership.
• The Melaleuca business opportunity is not for everyone especially when you have to deal with recruiting or referring other people to keep buying the same products.
• You cannot take advantage of any discounts and savings not unless you are a Preferred Member. What if you just want to buy their products and you are not joining the Melaleuca business, then tough luck for you because you won’t get any discounts or savings.
• It is hard to cancel your membership and there are many complaints through the Better Business Bureau.

Is Melaleuca A Scam Or Legitimate Way To Make Money Online?

Melaleuca is not a scam at all and it is a legitimate business opportunity. However, due to the nature of its business model, you would really have to gauge yourself whether or not the income you are aiming for is achievable.

The statistics shows that 80% of people joining Melaleuca are only doing so because they like the products but not necessarily entering the business to make money. Why? Because it is not easy and the people that thrive in this business are the ones that has the ability to convince people to buy mostly from face to face recruiting.
